ABOUT US |
Blessed Bonds offers temporary assistance to persons who want to keep their animal companions but are having difficulties that interfere with their ability to meet their pets' daily needs. One of the top ten reasons people give up their pets to animal shelters is because of personal problems/medical crisis. Researchers have concluded that "availability of temporary accommodations for pets during times of personal crisis may reduce relinquishment." Help will include any or all of the following: 1. Problem-solving counseling and education to explore options that might be available for the person in crisis within their own support system of family and friends. 2. In-home assistance including help with walking dogs, basic animal care, love and attention, transportation to vet appointments, and other pet-related errands. 3. Temporary foster homes with volunteers offering frequent visits between the bonded pairs. Arranging trips to the rehabilitation center, hospital, home, hospice, etc. will promote health, healing, and well-being of the persons and the pets and minimize both of their grief/separation reactions. |
